The basis for the nursing practice and its purpose depends on many theories that identify the primary mission of every doctor. Still, the frameworks are related to different medical topics, shaping the profession with the foundational knowledge of treatment concepts in various healthcare settings. Overall, the nursing theory provides an understanding of what medics do for their patients and why they must prioritize their health.

To start with, nursing theories are of utmost importance for the medical practice as it formulates the purpose and the mission of the doctors within healthcare institutions. What is more, they articulate evidence that is meant to justify the approaches behind this profession. The lack of foundation for medical practice in the form of nursing theories may alter the concept of caregiving, which must be based on proper treatment and catering to health-related needs. Thus, if the doctors of nursing practice (DNPs) are familiar with the expected outcome of their work, they can shape the care delivery strategies according to nursing theories. The nursing models can point the direction of treatment to the DNPs in different healthcare scenarios. For instance, when dealing with mental illnesses, medics follow the Neuman Systems model proposed by Betty Neuman, which is built on the patient’s holistic care (Alligood, 2021). To elaborate, the nurses opt to consider both physical and mental factors to treat mental disorders (Alligood, 2021). Consequently, the frameworks related to different areas of medicine assist DNPs in designing care delivery plans.

In a nutshell, nursing theories are critical for DNPs, considering that they define a purpose and objective for the medical practice as a whole. Furthermore, the frameworks mentioned above identify the methodologies that should be employed for treating patients effectively and adequately within healthcare institutions. Many practice-level frameworks provide care delivery strategies the DNPs should consider when dealing with particular health issues in their practice.
