Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an essential component of the practice of a BSN-prepared RN as it enables specialists to enhance the delivery of health care and improve its outcomes. Furthermore, EBP enables nurses to reduce stress levels and burnout. It is crucial for all nurses to have a solid EBP foundation along with an understanding of the effect of applying EBP interventions in their work (Al Qadire, 2019). Two ways in which I will continue to integrate evidence into my practice and encourage it within my work environment are participation in continuous learning and attendance of nurse conferences. Promoting continuous learning, especially among new nurses, encourages them to adopt EBP and allows them to feel part of the organizational culture. Hence, this approach will help me in sustaining the practice on a long-term basis. Active participation in conferences will enable me to learn and share experiences, get access to the most recent research, and receive inspiration and support from other nurses utilizing EBP in their work environment.
The obstacles that could challenge my plan include nurse burnout, high turnover, and lack of administration’s support. When nurses are too tired to do their work due to constant overload, they are unlikely to have the desire to engage in EBP through additional learning and training. This could affect me both in terms of my personal willingness and ability to use EBP and my senior colleagues’ willingness to share their experiences with me. However, it is crucial for nursing students to have access to EBP and be able to appraise it (Abu-Baker et al., 2021). Hence, to minimize this potential barrier, I would learn to manage my time and encourage my coworkers to do the same so that we all have enough strength and inspiration to excel in our work. In case of the lack of the institution’s support with conferences, I would suggest them to evaluate the work of the staff based on their scholarly achievements. I would also present a report on the positive effects of participating in conferences and seminars to persuade the administration to let me attend these important events.
